Wave pools for the future

High-quality surfing pools are inevitable

Surf Pools are the beginning of a new era in surfing recreation. The endless possibilities include:

  • Surfing perfect waves at the push of a button
  • Planning and marketing contests and events well in advance because the surf is guaranteed to cooperate during the scheduled time slot
  • Televising events and generating media opportunities that have never existed before in surfing
  • Holding events at night. Integrating live music, food and beverage, and other forms of entertainment to complement the experience
  • Giving advanced surfers the ability to practice on a consistent canvas and master their moves. Allowing surfing to progress like never before.
  • Providing surf schools with the ability to create the ultimate training facility using smaller pools to teach new people to surf. New surfers would not have to worry about intimidation from ocean conditions or angry locals. Aspirants can get comfortable quickly in a completely controlled environment and progress much faster than they would in the ocean. It will also provide people who fear the ocean with the opportunity to experience the joy of surfing.

Wave pool technology may actually allow surfing to become an Olympic sport. The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the World Governing Authority for Surfing and all Surfriding activities, including Short Board, Longboard, Bodyboard, Kneeboard, Skimboard, Tow In and Stand Up Paddle surfing. ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 50 countries on six continents. One of the main goals of the ISA is to make surfing an Olympic Sport. The ISA has concluded that the only way surfing will become an Olympic sport is to develop wave pools that create high quality surfing waves to be used as the venue for Olympic surfing competition.
